To increase the popularity ass well as the dwindling sales of Sony’s latest handheld, the PS Vita, Sony has announced a nice little incentive for PlayStation 3 users, the Cross Buy program.

Sony’s Cross Buy program will give PS3 usrs who purchase a select game a free copy of that title for the PS Vita. A few of the titles mentioned at Sony’s Gamescom press conference were Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Ratchet & Clank: Qforce.

While the initial reveal for this program was said to be exclusive to Europe, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, took to Twitter to clarify that the PlaySatio3/Vita promotion will also be heading to the United states. However, Japan will have to wait.

Cross Buy will also make use of cloud saves. You can start playing on your PS and pick up from your saved point by loading the cloud save to the PS vita.
