Yup, it’s happening! In our recent podcasts the Gamer Assault Weekly team talked about the possibility of a Modern Warfare 4 and the general consensus was that it shouldn’t happen. However, rumors have been traveling online that a new Call of Duty title is in the works.

Reports from NowGamer say that Sledgehammer Games has posted a job opening for a Senior Environment Artist to work on the next title for Call of Duty that will be on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It reads:

”We are actively recruiting top talent for our Call of Duty development team. If you are passionate and driven to do your best work, and have a desire to work on the most successful FPS franchise in the history of video games, please apply online.”

Additionally, those applying:

“will be expected to create single player and multi-player levels under the direction of the art director and the creative director,” and “will insure that the level works on all relevant platforms, Xbox 360, PS3.

While recent rumors pointed to Modern Warfare 4 Infinity Ward quickly shot down that rumor. According to a Twitter post by the company, Infinity Ward have put down the rumors and said it simply “not true”.

“Interesting news today, but it’s not true. We’ve not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation.”

If Modern Warfare 4 is not the next title and Black Ops 2 just released what new title could Sledgehammer Games be working on? It seems to be that the Call of Duty series will not die and will continue to be a yearly event for gamers. If a new Call of Duty title is in the works all we hope for is that it’s well made, graphically stunning, has a good story and brings new aspects to the multiplayer, is that too much to ask?!
