Whether you play Minecraft for the game, to build elaborate towns and cities, or to create fun 2D art pieces there is no doubt that it is one of the most entertaining games out there. With it’s success on PC the creators decided to put it on console. The Xbox 360 version of the game was an instant hit, and while the game initially didn’t have all the same available functions as the PC copy did, Notch has done an amazing job updating the game, providing new content and really making it special for console.

Minecraft on Xbox 360 has now hit 10 million copies of the game sold since it launched in May 2012. Minecraft on Mac and PC has sold 13 million copies and the Minecraft: Poket Edition surpassed 10 million copies sold this year. With the Xbox 360 edition being sold for $20 that means the game has made $200 million in sales. With so much success for the game Creator Markus “Notch” Persson said, “I’m having a hard time processing it.”

To thank it’s players for the success of the game Microsoft is offering all skin and texture packs for 50% off (excluding Mashup packs) this weekend. The sale will be a one-day-only sales on Sautrday, December 14 so make sure you pick up your skin and texture packs.

Minecraft also has plans to make its way to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. An official release date for those platforms has not been released.
