2013 has come to end and we are now into the first couple of days of 2014. Every year there is always something that comes out over the course of the year that I’m excited to play. However, 2014 is looking to be the first year that I’m just all around hyped when it comes to gaming. In no particular order of importance,  here is the list of games that will be taking my money in 2014.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Konami (PS3/Xbox 360/PS4/Xbox One)

The red band trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had people throwing money at their computer monitors. But first, the prequel to Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes, is set to release early this year. Having followed the series from the start it looks like Ground Zeroes is going to start the tale of how Major Zero and Big Boss parted ways and the battle with in the Patriots started- a battle that could span the entire series.

The Division

Tom Clancy’s: The Division, Ubisoft (PS4/Xbox One/PC)

Not much is known about this title so far other than what was shown at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference. The Division takes place after a nationwide pandemic has caused The United States to collapse into disarray. The open world, massive multiplayer shooter reminds me of a more modern Borderlands. How do I and others feel about The Division – Can’t Wait!

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remix, Square Enix (PS3/PS Vita)

Sony’s PlayStation 4 is not the only system that is getting attention. There are still a whole slew of titles coming for the PS3. One such title is the HD Re-master of the PS2 Classic Final Fantasy X and its sequel X-2. The game was simply gorgeous for its day, and now touched in HD it looks like the PS-2 Classic has aged gracefully. The HD Re-master allows a new gaming generation to experience one of Square Enix’s classic RPGs.

Titanfall, EA/Respawn – (Xbox One/PC)

Everyone is looking for something new to reinvigorate the multiplayer shooter genre and a lot of  hope is riding on Titanfall to do just that. With a story-driven multiplayer, sci-fi setting, and corporations using Titan mech-armors to battle for power and resources, Respawn Entertainment looks like its up for the challenge.

Transistor, Supergiant Games – (PS4/PC)

Supergiant Games, the developers behind the much beloved and high regard Bastion, is back with Transistor; a Sci-Fi Action RPG set in a 1920’-30’s style city. Red is a young singer that comes to processes a powerful sentient sword called The Transistor and now she and the sword are being chased by The Process who rule of the city. Just the artwork by itself is enough to have anything throwing money at their console or PC and with Supergiant Games’ recent track record this title is definitely the list of ones to watch.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – Square Enix (PS3/Xbox 360)

The Story of Lightning in what is called the Fabula Nova Crystallis Saga is coming to a close this February with the release of Lightning Returns. Interesting how the tides have turned somewhat for this cast of Final Fantasy 13 since its initial release which many did not like, but now Lightning has become on the most recognizable characters from the Final Fantasy series. Square Enix has made a serious effort to listen to fan feedback, and the buzz around this game is very positive.

Kingdom Hearts2

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix – Square Enix (PS3)

The buildup to Kingdom Hearts 3 continues with the release of the HD Remix version of the Kingdom Hearts 2. Square Enix is going to make sure everyone is all caught up on the massive plot of the series by also including a HD version of the PSP Prequel Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and a cutscene compilation from Re:Coded.

Murdered: Soul Suspect – Square Enix (PS3/Xbox 360)

Murdered: Soul Suspect is a supernatural murder mystery set in Salem, Mass. but with a twist; the murder you’re trying to solve is you own. From a story and gameplay standpoint, this game has caught mine and others attention.

Fable Anniversary – Lions Head Studio/Mircosoft(Xbox 360)

Square Enix is not the only company doing HD Remasters of their classic titles, Lions Head Studio is releasing an HD remaster of the Xbox classic Fable. Players can now play the classic game, including The Lost Chapters, with a new lighting system, new interface, textures, and character models.

Destiny, Bungie (PS4-PS3/Xbox One-Xbox 360/PC)

This is the big one, the game everyone is waiting for, Destiny. The MMO Shooter from the studio behind Halo has had everyone excited since before E3 and the E3 gameplay demo that just added to the hype. Destiny is set to bring to the table not only an interesting storyline set in the future, but competitive and cooperative gameplay. Everyone is waiting for this game and the Beta is coming out early this year, everyone is rubbing their hands in anticipation.
