Eiji Aonuma, longtime Zelda developer, stated that the next game in the series will offer “more than just a single-player experience.” Of course, this got the internet talking.

Aonuma was speaking with Game Informer about the Hyrule Warriors game when he made that comment about the next Zelda game. He was discussing the co-op that will be available in Hyrule Warriors when asked if that kind of thing could make it’s way into the main Zelda series.

“When I was talking back about making Zelda more than just a single-player experience? That’s something you will see in the future, maybe next year.”

While it obviously doesn’t confirm anything, it certainly sounds like Aonuma is hinting at some sort of co-op that could be featured in The Legend of Zelda game that’s in development for the Wii U.
