Wii U’s Hyrule Warriors is doting the field with a plethora of different characters that we know and love; like Midna, Zelda, Impa, Agatha, and even the cucco’s. But Eiji Aonuma just announced on Miiverse that there’s another character that will be aiding Link in his fight: Epona! Technically, she will be considered a “weapon” because the player can’t use her solely, but she can team up with Link to “blow heards of enemies away and gallop swiftly through the fields,” as Aonuma commented on his own play through with Link’s companion.

“In the Zelda series,” he continued, “players never had a chance to tackle bosses by galloping around them with Epona like in Hyrule Warriors, so I hope fans will enjoy playing as Zelda characters in a game with a different type of action than you typically find in the original series.”

Epona will be available as downloadable content in the Master Quest Pack coming this October 16th. Not much else, specifically, is known about the pack, but players will be receiving costumes, an adventure map, and new scenarios with their $20 purchase.
