Final Fantasy Type-0 HD released today on the PS4 and Xbox One today. Type-0 HD is a remaster of the surprisingly popular Type-0 PSP game.

Type-0 is a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis sub series of FF games, which encompasses the stories told by the Final Fantasy XIII series and the yet to be released Final Fantasy XV.

An interesting side note to this release, as well as XV’s, is that both Type-0 and XV were both initially created with the intention of being part of the Final Fantasy XIII series. Final Fantasy XV was under development for a while as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy Type-0 was initially named Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

After a while, Square Enix decided to take a different route with the direct XIII series, and do something else with Agito XIII and Versus XIII.

Hopefully by the end of this year, we can say that the full Fabula Nova Crystallis series is out for everyone to enjoy.

For now, you can enjoy the launch trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.
