Due to undisclosed health complications, ESL has announced that Fnatic will be unable to attend Intel Extreme Masters San Jose later this month.

“Due to medical reasons we are unable to take our team to IEM this year,” they said, “We’re honoured that you voted for us, appreciate your understanding, and hope that you continue to support the team and tune in to IEM San Jose.”

The team made it into IEM San Jose through a fan vote, placing second after Origen, and their replacement will be Unicorns of Love, who placed third in the same vote.

However, it’s still unclear as to who will be replacing Cho “H0R0” Jae-Hwan and Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage after their departure on the 5th. Shortly after the press release, Pontus “Vardags” Dahlblom made an announcement of his own stating that he is stepping down from the team as well after being moved to a substitute position. So it’s currently unclear as to whether or not Unicorns of Love will have a full roster in time for the event on the 21st.
