After over five years of competitive League of Legends play, Team Liquid jungler Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera has announced that he will be officially retiring.

According to the following statement he gave to InstantEsports, IWD’s decision comes from months of mulling it over after first mentioning it to Team Liquid back in June of 2015.

“The decision to retire has been on my mind since June of 2015 when I originally proposed bringing in a young talented jungler to grow into my role on TL. I contacted Dardoch as he was a talented solo queue jungler that had gained my respect. Over the last 4-5 months of working with Dardoch he has transitioned his solo queue strengths into competitive play and he has been playing better and better every week. I am fully confident that with the support of the TL coaching staff he will be a contender for the title of Best Jungler NA and can lead the team to a top finish in Spring Split.”

Even though he will no longer be competing as a player, IWD still plans to actively participate in the League of Legends scene. He will continue to with Team Liquid as a positional coach to Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett, who will be filling in for him. IWillDominate will also be working as a sponsored streamer for Team Liquid. Until a worthy replacement is found for Dardoch, IWD will also be acting as a temporary substitute for Team Liquid Academy.

IWD’s career first began with the team Haters back in 2010, which he later left for compLexity Gaming. His career wouldn’t truly take off until signing to Team Dignitas in 2012, which he stayed with for a full year before joining Curse Academy in 2013. This was despite his permanent account ban in League of Legends due to toxic behavior, which was placed in December of 2012. He created a new account with the name “IWDominate” so he could continue to play. While it’s unclear whether or not his accounts were ever released from the ban, his temporary LCS suspension was lifted late 2013.

In January of 2015 Team Curse and Team Liquid merged teams and, as a result, IWillDominate began to play under their banner.
