2K Sports has announced that three-time all-star and Team USA member Paul George will be it’s cover athlete for this year’s release of the long-running basketball series, NBA 2K17.

George was previously featured on the digital cover of the NBA 2K companion app, but this is his first appearance on the cover of a mainline NBA game. Last year’s NBA 2K16 featured three stars – Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, and James Harden – as the cover athletes.

The announcement was made as part of the NBA 2K16 ‘Road to the Finals’ competitive gaming event, which pitted team The Drewkerbockers against team GFGeSports. The Drewkerbockers came out on top, but both teams ended up splitting the prize pool of $250,000.

George will not be the only cover athlete for NBA 2K17, as 2K Sports has already announced an $80 ‘Legend Edition’ featuring the recently retired Kobe Bryant.

The Legend Edition comes with a smattering of both physical and digital items such as a controller skin, digital Kobe hoodie, and much more.

NBA 2K17 launches in September for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC,
