DOOM will be getting a free update. Bethseda has announced that the game will be getting an update with an arcade mode, a deathmatch mode and private matches. There’s a 30 second teaser trailer released which gives a glimpse into the new features, showing off the gameplay and revealing details for a stream at the end of the video. It also displays information for a competition to win a UAC themed Xbox One if you view the stream.

On 13th of September, 11am PT, Bethseda will hold a stream showcasing the new gameplay modes and features at id Software’s Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton will be there to discuss the details, but until then, Bethseda has revealed a bit of info on its website.

“Deathmatch brings free-for-all mayhem to DOOM’s fast-paced multiplayer, and arrives as part of Free Update 3 this month. Private Matches are also coming in that update, allowing you and your friends to create private multiplayer matches where you determine the maps and modes. You’ll also be able to adjust settings like the time limit, score limit, or turning demons and power weapon off or on. Plus, you’ll see a sneak peek of Arcade Mode, an upcoming competitive addition to the game’s critically acclaimed campaign mode, set to arrive in a future free update this fall”.

This is the latest of several updates to DOOM, with two free game modes and a full multiplayer DLC called Unto The Evil releasing in August.
