A teaser for a brand new Final Fantasy mobile game project has gone live. The site features a countdown timer that will finish in five days from now.

Although information on the website is scarce, the announcement likely will reveal an original new title for the Final Fantasy series. The URL contains “FF_New,” which may suggest this is more than a port of an existing title. The key illustration also doesn’t hint at any prior Final Fantasy title.

You can see the key illustration below. Yoshitaka Amano, who illustrates many of Square Enix’s games, produced this gorgeous piece to accompany the new mobile title.

A quote from Takashi Tokita, the director of Chrono Trigger, accompanies the key visual and “Prelude/Crystal Theme” music piece. The quote, translated courtesty of DualShockers, reads “Final Fantasy is about characters with anger and sadness, and dramatic battles full of humanity. And more than anything else, we should not forget the fantasy.”

Tokita was the notably the director of Chrono Trigger and Parasite Eve, as well as the Lead Game Designer of Final Fantasy IV. The website suggests he plays a role in the key development of this title.

You can expect more information when the countdown timer wraps up next week. The banner on the bottom announces that this title will be available for both Android and iOS. We’ll hopefully see more visuals and gameplay teasers in the near future.
