Ruiner features brutal, hardcore top-down shooter gameplay. When we covered the game at PAX South, one of our writers got rocked. You’ll fight against armies of guards and deadly assassins with aggressive, but not unfair A.I. Hideouts are decked in mines, traps, and sentry guns. You’ll need to make use of weapons and gadgets well, in addition to a lot of skill. Combining your gadgets with your weapons will let you unleash righteous chaotic revenge upon your opponents. For example, Dashing with your Energy Shield results in a powerful attack.

Ruiner also has a fantastic soundtrack. Sidewalks & Skeletons, Natalia Zamilska, and famed Japanese composer Susumu Hirasawa (Paranoia Agent, Millennium Actress) are some of the names involved with the game. In our previous coverage of the game, we’ve stated that the music is “one of the factors that pump you up to keep going.”
