After a delay earlier this year, Sonic Mania finally sprints towards a set release date. Sega’s new release date for the game places it for an August 15, 2017 launch.

Developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games in collaboration with Sega, Sonic Mania will take gamers back to Sonic’s 2D roots and allow them to rediscover what made these games classics. You’ll play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles through all-new zones and re-imagined levels from the original.

In addition to the announcement, they’ve also revealed a pre-order trailer. Check out how they’ve blended gameplay and quirky sketch animation sequences into this neat preview.

Gamers can digitally pre-order the game for Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC on this web page. The game and its Collector’s Editions are also available for pre-order at retail locations.

For the Nintendo Switch version of the Collector’s Edition, pre-orders will happen exclusively through Amazon while supplies last. Like its release on other platforms, the Switch Collector’s Edition will include a deluxe “SEGA Mega Drive” style collector’s box, 12″ Classic Sonic Statue featuring SEGA Mega Drive Base which plays the “SEEGAA” startup audio, and a SEGA cartridge cast with golden ring.
