Recent scans from Famitsu revealed neat new details about Fire Emblem Warriors. More characters from Fire Emblem: Awakening will ride together into battle. In addition, the scans provide a brief preview of one of Fire Emblem Warriors‘ most unique gameplay mechanics.

First, the scans confirm Cordelia and the female version of Robin as part of the game’s roster. Both of these characters hail from the world of Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Cordelia is the first Pegasus Knight to join the game’s crossover army of Fire Emblem characters. It should be interesting to see how a flying character might function in a Warriors-style game.

Robin is the player’s custom avatar in Fire Emblem: Awakening, who can be made as either a male or female character. We’ve already seen the male Robin in action, and this Robin also appears to be a mage. In this crossover, she may be a separate character altogether from the male version- so it’ll be interesting to see that play out.

Besides the news about even more Awakening characters, fans might be pleasantly surprised to hear that a core series mechanic has been worked into Fire Emblem Warriors. Yup, that’s right: permanent death is coming.

The “Character Lost” feature will make it so that you can’t deploy a character again once they’ve fallen in battle. Presumably, this affects the game’s story/campaign modes. Nintendo will reveal more details at a later date.

Fire Emblem Warriors will launch by Fall 2017 for Nintendo Switch and New 3DS.
