If you were thinking of buying up We Happy Few, you ought to pick it up soon. The game’s cheaper Early Access pricing will no longer be available after August 16.

Right now, We Happy Few sells for $30 via Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, and the Xbox Live Store. After August 16, it will instead sell for $51.

The game is currently still in Early Access, but Compulsion Games is close to announcing an official release date. As a result, the price tag will change to reflect the full-priced launch.

On Compulsion Games’ official blog, they released a statement about the price change.

We have never put it on sale because we believe it isn’t fair for someone to get the game at a lower price than a Kickstarter backer or an Early Access backer while the game is still in development. Since 2015, we have made clear that the price would increase as we approach the final release, and that time has – finally – come.

August 16 will also bring a major update to the game, titled “Life in Technicolor.” The update brings “new Joy effects as well as a brand new UI (still WIP), AI rework and much more” to the game.

We Happy Few is currently gearing up for launch on Xbox One and PC. Expect a release date announcement very soon.
