Vanillaware’s next game, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, finally has details about its launch. A new trailer made its debut at the end of Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2017 pre-show stream.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will release for PS4 and PS Vita in Japan during some time next year. Although we currently have little information about it beyond a few cryptic teaser trailers, its launch is finally approaching.

In the world of 13 Sentinels, a catastrophic event has ended ordinary life as society has known it. 13 people will come together in a chain of events that revolve around a powerful robot defender, Sentinel 13.

The new trailer showcases side-scrolling sections where the game’s human cast can interact with each other. For those who’ve played other Vanillaware side-scrollers like Muramasa and Odin Sphere, this sort of gameplay might be familiar.

We’re still not quite sure how the game’s giant robots will figure into the gameplay. The trailer hints that we’ll be managing the robots through careful strategy gameplay.

More reveals and information may come out of this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which begins tomorrow. If you’re looking forward to this game’s take on the beloved genre of Japanese robots, stay tuned.
