Nintendo’s leap into the mobile market has been nothing short of a success. Now Google has reported that Super Mario Run was the most downloaded game in the Android marketplace.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the game was downloaded over 40 million times after 4 days of release.

The game, which is free for the first world, was released on March 22nd after being an exclusive for the iOS marketplace for 4 months. The game launched with mixed receptions, mostly due to the game’s strange free-to-play system which locks out most of the game through a paywall.

The game has been updated with frequent updates since its launch with new worlds, enemies, characters, and using personal music while the game is running.

Super Mario Run is now available for iOS and Android devices.
