Detective Pikachu, a Pokémon spin-off title in which players step into the shoes of protagonist Tim Goodman to team up with a talking Pikachu to solve mysteries, was released by Nintendo exclusively in Japan on February 3rd, 2016.

The Pokémon Company has now released new information on the game’s western release. An English trailer for Detective Pikachu has been uploaded to The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel and the game is scheduled to be released in both North America and Europe on March 23rd, 2018.

To coincide with this release, a Detective Pikachu Amiibo (which is significantly larger than a standard Amiibo) is also being developed. When used in the game, this Amiibo can unlock video clips which could potentially provide hints for the player so as to give them an edge in their investigation.
