Happy Pokémon Day, trainers! For those who don’t know, today marks Pokémon Day, the yearly anniversary of the original 1996 release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. As usual, the Pokémon Company has numerous festivities and new merchandise to enjoy the occasion.

“Pokémon Day is not only a celebration of the franchise, but also of Pokémon’s incredible fan community,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of consumer marketing for The Pokémon Company International. “This year we’re offering social media activations and more across the brand to help Trainers around the world express their love of all things Pokémon.”

Pokémon Go

Until February 28 at 1pm PT/4pm ET, Pokémon Go trainers can catch a special event Pikachu. This Pikachu wears an adorable party hat and knows the move “Present.” Plus, catching one gives you triple the amount of Stardust you’d normally get from a catch.

You can also pick up new Fire Red/Leaf Green-inspired outfits in the store now! These are cool clothes that won’t just be event limited.

Pikachu Talk

If you own an Amazon Alexa or Google Home and you’re a diehard Pikachu fan, there’s a brand new app just for you. By downloading the Pikachu Talk app, your device will “Pika” back to you.

Yup, that’s right. You can ask the app questions, and gush over the various cute intonations of “pika” it’ll answer you back. It’s a simple and cute quality-of-life app for a truly diehard Pikachu lover.

New Snapchat Lenses

For the next few days, Snapchat filters of the original three Pokémon starters will be available. They will come and go via rotation. First, starting today, we’ll have the Bulbasaur lens for three days. Then, we’ll get the Charmander lens for another three, and finally, the Squirtle lens for the final three.

New stickers will also be doing on Pokémon day as well.

New Pokémon Center Goods

The Pokémon Center will debuting a new line of large-scale Pokémon Gallery Figurines. Of course, who better to choose for a large-scale figure debut other than Charizard?

The Pokémon Center is also debuting a series of legendary Pokémon pins. Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl’s Dialga and Palkia will be the first, with new legendary Pokémon being added each month until November.

To all the Pokémon trainers at Gamer Assault Weekly, we wish you a happy Pokémon Day!
