Since the beginning of 2018, Activision has been teasing information regarding a remake trilogy for Spyro the Dragon. Following the success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, the mega-publisher has stated they’re planning to revive older franchises for modern audiences. Now, IGN associate news editor, Jonathon Dornbush, was mailed what appears to be a purple dragon egg and a note “Something’s about to hatch.” The note is signed by someone named “Falcon McBob,” which just so happens to be the name of the unverified Twitter account with the handle @SpyroTheDragon.

This isn’t an official confirmation, but considering the quote and the face it’s a purple egg, Spyro’s iconic color, it’s hard to assume anything else.

The Spyro the Dragon remakes are currently rumored to be in development for unspecified consoles. It’s safe to assume that they’ll follow in the footsteps of the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy:  they may release on PlayStation 4 before coming to other platforms.
