This year will be the tenth anniversary of the original hidden zombie mode in World at War, and to nobody’s surprise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will see the return of Zombies mode to the CoD franchise. During the BO4 reveal stream, Treyarch announced a number of new features coming to the Zombie mode when Black Ops 4 launches on October 12th.

Black Ops 4 Zombies will launch with three maps, IX, Voyage of Despair and Blood of the Dead. For IX and Voyage of Despair, players will take control of four new characters not previously seen in the Black Ops Zombies universe. Voyage of Despair takes place on the Titanic, while IX is in ancient Rome. Blood of the Dead, however, will feature the Origins characters from past games in the same prison as Mob of the Dead from Black Ops 2.

Treyarch claims this is the most customizable Zombies mode to date with, “new systems for creating and completing community challenges, and social systems designed to connect players.” Scaling difficulty will be featured, as well as the option to play with AI teammates.

A new addition to Zombies in Black Ops 4 will be Zombie Rush mode. Not much is known about Zombie Rush at this time, but Treyarch stated that it will introduce new challenges for veterans and a different tempo for newer players.
