Fortnite‘s Thanos crossover event mode, Infinity Gauntlet, is now live, giving all players the slight chance to play as the Avengers: Infinity War villain himself. He comes as part of newest update 4.1, which is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile now.

The Thanos mode is only a limited time gimmick, however, one lucky player will get to use the villain’s powerful Infinity Gauntlet. You’ll get to play as Thanos until you either win or die, and he’s very strong. Even though he has already had a nerfing, he is still way overpowered.

As such, Epic has made the following tweaks:

  • Shield cap decreased from 300 to 200
  • Max Health decreased from 800 to 700
  • Laser damage vs. players decreased from 15 to 12

This is still no comfort for the rest of you that didn’t get to pick up the gauntlet.  So how does one get to play as Thanos? There’s no surefire way to get the Infinity Gauntlet every time, but there are a few tricky ways to improve your chances.

Try and stay on the Battle Bus as long as possible or at least until you reach the edge of the map, the Gauntlet will spawn after approximately two minutes. Then try and fly toward the middle of the first circle as fast as possible, while still keeping to the air (you want to try and wait out the 2 minutes in the air to try and aim for the circle first).

The Gauntlet’s spawning is announced with a sonic boom and arrives by way of a comet crash. You can’t miss it. The glove will be around the center of the first circle, so hopefully, you were able to come close to where the circle might start. If you are lucky enough to have been in the right place at the right moment you will get to the glove first. Just remember that the other players are notified on the compass of where the Thanos player is at all times, making you a big target.

If you miss out though, don’t worry, you can still play as the villain later in the round. If Thanos dies, he’ll drop the Gauntlet, and whoever gets to it first can take over evil responsibilities for the remainder of the match. Good luck with that though, he is not easy to kill, especially by yourself.

I once had a show that I produced, wrote, and co-hosted called the Wide World of Games. I also co-host a podcast called Party Up! I'm an Action-Adventurer, platformer, RPGer, and FPS kind of gamer. Quick to play any game that has magic, swordplay, and/or stealthy elements. If you can customize a character I'm in it for the long haul. Or just give me your 2D platform and I'm a happy camper. What else do you expect from a gamer with a beard and a bow tie tattoo? Seriously.
