Today, Ubisoft officially announced Assassin’s Creed Odyssey set in Greece and where players can choose to be either a male or female protagonist.

Players take control of either Alexios or Kassandra during The Peloponnesian War. As a skilled mercenary, you’ll play a major part in this role, with the game now supporting a choice-based dialogue system.

Players can alter the course of the story by stating things that affect major historical figures. Shown was Socrates and judging from the gameplay trailer provided insight of how the player completes a mission can change how the philosopher sees the world.

The broken spear of Leonidas provides ample combat opportunities and will be one of the player’s tools for combat. Including a bow and arrow with multiple types of arrows.

In this tale, player’s choices will alter the story. Giving the player the chance to alter history and create ripple effects. With one scene players are speaking to Socrates, having him response base on the player’s actions.

The full gameplay reveals showcased the return of ship combat, the eagle companion, and Mykonos City. Combat will use the same system from Assassin’s Creed Origins with a similar customization and leveling system that includes Warrior, Assassin, and Hunter.

The presentation ended with a hint at a Minotaur battle. This shouldn’t come as a surprise seeing that past titles have explored the alternate history and the mythical.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launches for Xbox One, PS4, and PC this October 5th.
