Square Enix revealed a new trailer for the upcoming turn-based RPG Octopath Traveler. Octopath Traveler follows eight different characters, each residing in a specific RPG role; warrior, mage, thief and more. Octopath Traveler will support, what Square Enix calls, an ‘HD-2D’ art style, which consists of using 16-bit sprites and textures combined with environments consisting of polygons and HD visual effects.

Using turn-based mechanics, players can attack with weapons and elemental spells and use abilities and potions to turn the tide of battle. At the end of each turn, players receive a boost point which can be used on the next turn or saved up to five points. When using a boost point players can attack multiple times, increase ability potency, or raise defenses for the incoming enemy attack.

Octopath Traveler will be released for the Nintendo Switch on July 13, 2018.

I moved onto the Genesis, followed by the original PlayStation, PC (mainly just for DOOM) and the N64. I got a launch day PS2 settling for the PlayStation family of consoles until 2015 when I renewed my interest in the PC world. Outside of gaming, custom PC water cooling and car parts are life.
