Today, new information about ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove was provided by HumaNature Studios. The successor to the SEGA Genesis games is no longer being published Adult Swim Games and will be releasing this fall for PC and consoles.

According to the founder of HumaNature Studios, Greg Johnson, the decision was a mutual choice between the 2. According to Johson Adult Swim Games is looking to publish several big games this year and ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove would likely be pushed back if Adult Swim Games remain its publisher.

“Going forward Adult Swim Games is no longer going to be our publisher. Instead we are going back to self-publishing! Adult Swim Games has some other big titles they plan to launch this summer so when Back in the Groove pushed back, we both agreed that it made sense for them to hand us the reigns, rather than taking a chance on this getting pushed back any more. Also I’d like to say how deeply grateful I and all of us here at HumaNature Studios are to Adult Swim Games. We wouldn’t have gotten this game to this point without them…seriously. Thank You Adult Swim!”

According to Johnson, the developers are planning a Close Beta build to Early Access backers between July 5th and July 19th. The developers are also looking to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is expected to land on PC and consoles sometime this fall.
