Crossplay has been a hot topic of discussion, especially following the news that PS4 Fortnite accounts are locked out from other versions of the game. Now more fuel has been added to the fire with Bethesda wanting crossplay with Fallout 76 but Sony is making things difficult.

In an interview with Gamestar, Todd Howard spoke about Fallout 76 stating that “We would love to do that, but right now that’s not possible.” Then, he added that “Sony isn’t being as helpful as we want them to be.”

Sony’s Shawn Layden has been quoted as stating they are looking into the possibilities of crossplay but the company has also been criticized for the lack of the function by ex-CEO John Smedley for being for financial reasons. Competitors Nintendo and Microsoft have also taken shots at Sony by releasing a trailer showing players on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One playing together in Minecraft.

Whatever the reason it’s clear that developers are open to crossplay and want to include it as part of their games.
